Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT) developed a hybrid process linking Photonics with artificial atoms. It is possible to create the largest quantum processor.

Us scientists have developed the production process and integration of artificial atoms in photonic circuits – because of this they are able to produce the largest existing quantum processor. A new way to design chip sets a kind of turning point in the field of scalable quantum processors. New calculations will need millions of these processors, and a new study shows that there is a real method to increase the production of processors.

Qubits in a newly developed chip are “artificial” atoms are made of defects in diamond. They can be obtained using visible light and microwaves, so they emit photons that carry quantum information.

Using the hybrid method, a team from MIT built a system consisting of 128 qubits.
