Some of them faced with local restrictions, like eSIM. But, as it became known this week, soon this standard will be available in Russia.
The Ministry of communications has allowed Tele2 to resume the issuance of eSIM in Russia. This information was confirmed by Deputy Minister of communications Oleg Ivanov. According to him, making virtual SIM cards will remain experimental. Therefore, the number of subscribers who can obtain eSIM decided to limit only 15 thousand, and therefore, they will not all attend. While most of them will probably be those who applied in the spring, but was not able to use it.
eSIM from Tele2
Tele2 plans to keep the old design principle eSIM, which involves mandatory attendance of the cellular interior with mandatory registration in the name of subscriber physical SIM card. After the signing of the special Declaration, it will cease to operate, and its owner will be able to use the virtual. For this you will have to scan a QR code from a package with a SIM card that will allow you to download the mobile subscriber’s profile.
As before, use the eSIM from Tele2 can only owners of smartphones. For users of tablets and smart watches-compliant virtual SIM cards, this possibility is not provided. It is not excluded that it will introduce in the future, when technology get the approval of the FSB and the necessary legislative base which would regulate the issuance of eSIM in Russia. Moreover, unless the experiment is valid only in Moscow, not spreading to the regions.
How to get eSIM in Russia
The April experiment results of virtual SIM-cards in Russia was halted at the request of the FSB because of security issues. Then it was reported that the Agency has discovered a flaw in the method of issuing the eSIM proposed Tele2, and therefore to continue it in the same condition it was dangerous. It is not known what exactly created the risk for subscribers, but for Troubleshooting at the operator took almost six months.
