The app “Find my iPhone”, designed to locate a lost smartphone with the ability to remotely lock and communication with the finder, turned the stolen iPhone market. Who wants to risk it, if the owner at any moment may be forced to block the stolen device. It would seem that still need an owner? But in Cupertino believe that the “Find my iPhone” in its current form is outdated and he urgently needed a radical renewal, which could happen as early as this fall.

As reported by 9To5Mac, citing sources close to Apple’s plans, the company is working on an updated app “Find my iPhone”, which will present with the release of iOS and macOS 10.15 13. The development is conducted in the framework of the project GreenTorch and assumes the merger with the utility “Find friends”. The latter, being one of the most underrated features of iOS allows the user to locate devices, their loved ones and share with them your location data.

Remote lock iPhone

However, this is not the most important. Updated the app Find my iPhone will work with Apple’s proprietary tracker, which will allow you to block devices from other manufacturers, as well as block your lost iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, even if they are not connected to Wi-Fi or cellular network. Unfortunately, at the moment to enable lost mode on the device only if you have Internet connectivity, which certainly is a big omission that reduces the usefulness of the ability to remotely lock the gadget.

Despite the fact that the ability to lock lost devices, provided the absent connect to the Network it looks pretty futuristic, for Apple it’s a piece of cake. It is known that the company has a special set of tools that allows you to turn off any gadget iOS and other operating systems, too, regardless of availability of communication. This was announced back in 2010, when one of the Apple employees lost a prototype iPhone 4, which was blocked by the remote connection.
