Most likely no one will argue with the fact that animations and other visual effects desktop operating system macOS look beautiful and sophisticated. But often such effects can distract from your workflow. That’s why we offer you a simple solution is to disable the animation in the OS. How to do it? Today will tell.

Actually disable animations easy. And there are two at least two ways to do it: via “System preferences” and through the Terminal application. Let us examine them separately.

Using “System settings”.

  • Run yourself options;
  • Go to the “Universal access”;
  • Find the category “Monitor” and activate the option “Reduce motion”.

Everything is ready. Disadvantage of this method is that it removes not all effects in the system.

Using the Terminal application.

  • Run the application in any convenient way;
  • In the command prompt window we need to enter multiple commands:

defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAutomaticWindowAnimationsEnabled -bool NO

defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration-int 0; killall Dock

defaults write com.apple.dock springboard-show-duration-int 0
defaults write com.apple.dock springboard-hide-duration-int 0
defaults write com.apple.dock springboard-page-duration-int 0

  • During the introduction of the teams Dock panel can recycle. The final result will be an operating system virtually without any visual effects. Action now will not be accompanied by a characteristic animation.

How to return all as was?

  • Launch the Terminal application in any convenient way;
  • In the command prompt window we need to enter multiple commands:

defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAutomaticWindowAnimationsEnabled -bool YES

defaults delete com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration; killall Dock

defaults delete com.apple.dock springboard-show-duration
defaults delete com.apple.dock springboard-hide-duration

  • Then, the operating system will return to its original condition.
