In the framework of the conference WWDC 2018 Apple announced a new version of macOS Mojave. The operating system received a lot of useful and not very new features. To controversial innovations include the rejection of the sub-pixel smoothing. According to statements of Apple, this has been done to improve the legibility of fonts and their readability. But in fact, it turned out to be relevant only for computers with Retina display. The owners of the same Mac with low resolution screens were forced to watch blurry fonts. How can I solve this problem?

Two months ago we already talked about one of the ways to improve the readability of fonts macOS Mojave on screens with low pixel density. For this it was necessary to manually enable subpixel smoothing by introducing the following command in “Terminal”.

defaults write -g CGFontRenderingFontSmoothingDisabled -bool NO

But today we will talk about another effective method to improve the readability of fonts macOS Mojave. For this we will replace the system font to San Francisco on the classic Lucida Grande. This font is known to have used Apple in the desktop operating systems since time immemorial, until the release of OS X Yosemite 10.10.
